• Microphone making constant hissing/white noise.

I've got a headset with a microphone that I've used for a while now. Recently I noticed that when I try to record anything with the microphone, it's overlayed with a constant hissing sound, as if someone was blowing into it from a distance or something. Thing is, it's completely silent when it happens and I can't figure out why it's happening. The headphones I use are plugged into the audio/microphone jacks on my laptop and this has only started recently. I tried fiddling with the audio settings for the microphone, like turning boost up and down, changing the enhancements under the volume settings, and nothing has made a difference. Does anyone know what this is about? It's almost deafening sometimes.
Sounds like a shitty mic/sound Card/both.
Sounds like a shitty mic/sound Card/both.
It didn't used to do this and I haven't changed either of those.
