• Upgrading to SATA?

So I just realized that this prebuilt I foolishly bought from Dell about a year and a half ago has an IDE interface rather than SATA. Is it possible to upgrade to SATA somehow?
not without buying a new hdd
I plan on buying a new HDD.
as long as your mobo has a sata port
Just looked at my mobo and it has plenty. The HDD was connected to a sata port as well, which is odd.
Op take a picture of the hard drive connectors. It might have been the optical drive connected to ide.
Take a picture indeed, I would like to see this hdd connected to IDE and sata.
Take a picture indeed, I would like to see this hdd connected to IDE and sata.
There are such beasts that convert sata to ide but idk why they would use one on a dell.
So you say your motherboard has SATA and IDE. You say your HDDs are connected to SATA. Obviously there's no need to "upgrade" to SATA because you already have SATA. Most modern mainboards have at least one IDE port left, in addition to 6 or 8 SATA ports. Don't worry.
And if it doesn't have an IDE port, it's a rage worthy board. I always rage when looking for a motherboard with a floppy IDE connector.
