I just jailbreaked it, and downloaded these two things called Cydia and rock from the blackrain app.
now what are some reccomended jailbreak apps i can download?
Apps from Cydia/Rock suck.
I have a few apps that I really like, 'Dismount' (a 3d simulator where you can let a guy fall off the stairs), 'Logmein' which is an app which allows you to connect to your PC if it also got logmein installed, and some useless crap like 'iBeer' and 'Shotgun Pro'.
I could give you the site of where you can download it, but I think it's illegal :ohdear:
Dont use rock it sucks and most are trials cydia is fine but you might want to search for some repo's to download free stuff (since cydia has payed stuff to).
@BrQ you could pm it to him.

iBeer and shotgun pro are on the offical apple app store you know and i already have them.
WinterBoard.
http://gizmodo.com/tag/iphone-apps-directory
there are some jailbreak apps there, and I suggest:
OpenSSH, to access all your files, and to be able to add/edit themes from winterboard that's not in the cydia repos.
SpringSorter, sorts your apps based on how much you use them, over all pages or individually. You can also protect pages so they don't sort.
Action menu, adds more actions to the copy and paste meny like favorites, copy all dial and more.
CyDelete, delete cydia apps just like you do with appstore apps.
MultiIconMover, move multiple icons at a time, also easier to move single ones to other pages.
SBSettings, add a menu that you open by sliding your finger along the menubar, allows you to change a lot of stuff and hide icons.
You have to have winterboard, there's no reason not to use it
There's WinterBoard, as mentioned before, get this, it allows you to set themes.
Categories, lets you put your apps into folders in SpringBoard.
Five Icon Dock, does as the name suggests, lets you fit 5 apps on the Dock.
CyDelete, allows you to delete apps you get from Cydia as easily as you would delete normal apps.
Flashlight, unlike the many flashlight apps from the appstore, this one auto-changes your brightness to the highest setting when you start it.
Safari Download Plug-In, lets you download files directly from Safari.
SBSettings, lets you change a lot of stuff, like which icons are displayed in SpringBoard, lets you terminate processes, and more. To use it, swipe across the title bar.
Oh, almost forgot UserAgent Faker, this makes a website you visit think you're on a desktop, useful for when mobile websites offer limited features.
Also, one thing that's called YourTube Cracked (notice the R), this allows you to download Youtube movies.
Installous.
Installous.
AppCake is just as good, and for installous: http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=847855

Thank you! I really needed such an application, it's really annoying when many sites only offer limited mobile pages.
Also look for two repos that are kind of useful for jalibreakers looking for more "specific" apps. xSellize repo and the SiNfuL iPhone repo. They offer roughly the same stuff, but with slight variations. You can find Yourtube Cracked and the likes on these. (And ZodTTDs expensive ass GBA and NES emulators)
I didn't realize I got YourTube Cracked SiNfuL, sorry for not mentioning that.

You're welcome.
Itrickedu is a good one
So much ignorance.
Hey, geniuses, Rock is the same goddamn thing as Cydia in the sense that it has the same applications. "Rock apps" is just a cute name for Cydia Paid Apps. Think of Rock as Icy or another Cydia alternative.
Also, Rock is better. The only thing wrong with it is that not all Cydia repositories work on it, but a good >90% of them do, and it's a shitfuck faster.

I've used rock and had a really bad experience, and it's a fact that it has problems installing stuff. Also, cydia isn't that slow if you just use it on a good wi-fi and don't install a million apps.

I liked the speed increases and shit that Rock had, but the program started showing small problems, mainly it couldn't tell that I had updated the repo icons for a third party repository, so it kept telling me to download them. And it just didn't like some of the extra repos in the first place.
I think I might just have to stick with Cydia for a bit longer really. Rock got a bit annoying at times.

Cydia is fucking stupid. It's slow from day one and I have a 30mbit connection. I don't understand why it has to load data, reload data, then reload it after each install or cancel. It's like fucking paranoid of missing an update.
If saurik and the makers of Rock teamed up to make Cydia behave more like Rock, it would be perfection.

Cydia is in need of a rewrite but it is still the best installer around.
Rock is the best installer. Cydia is just the most-supported, which makes it the only choice for lots of repositories thus far.

FAR better.
Maybe someone should bombard Saurik with E-mails and tweets telling him to get in touch with the guys behind Rock and rewrite Cydia :v:
I was thinking about installing Rock, but I wanted the repo support.
If Rock would have had the same support, I'd have gone for Rock.
You can use both. I mostly use Rock except for the 3 or 4 repositories that don't work.

No thanks. I wouldn't like Rock becoming the only source for getting apps. That would probably mean that free repos would seize to exist
Again, more ignorance. Cydia and Rock are the same fucking thing. Rock apps are a cute name for Cydia Paid apps. It's a Cydia alternative, and it accepts the same repositories.
Fucking people.

Wow, you're just like them ignorant windows fanboys: No it's the best, you are wrong, I am right. You're stupid and ignorant just because I can not accept that people think different.
Let them say what they think without raging at them, there's a reason they don't like rock and there's a reason you like it, just let it be at that.

I didn't say Rock was better in that post, I said Cydia and Rock are the same fucking thing.
Jumping to conclusions, how representative of your population.
