I'm more of a skate guy, but the specs looked decent for the price. All the parts are in house brands of a local skate shop, but I've seen decent reviews of em. Can anyone with a lot of experience tell me if I should expect this to break in half or what?
I've never heard of that brand before, but if you're just cruising around it should be adequate. I really doubt the board will break on you though, it's just pressed maple wood after all. I looked up the trucks and someone said they're alright. Also the wheel bearings are pretty common and good. If I were you I'd probably upgrade the bushings and wheels first. Make sure they aren't tall bushings though, they won't fit in the trucks. You could buy them anyways and cut them down to size if you wanted actually. As for wheels, there are a lot of them. I'm currently using ABEC 11 78a 70's Flashbacks which are pretty awesome, a good all around wheel. Softer and bigger wheels will definitely give you a nice ride. I've heard Landyachtz Biggie Hawgs are good for a big wheel too. For a cheap but good wheel, the 61mm 78a Red Eyes from Churchill are only $25 and come in different colors. Also Orangatang wheels are good. When you decide to upgrade the trucks, go for Independent, Paris, Caliber, or Randal. Basically the deck itself is fine, it's just the hardware that could use some upgrading. I recommend checking out the Silverfish longboarding forums, there's tons of good information and reviews there. You can also check out the Buy and Sell section. Maybe get new wheels and bushings then buy the trucks used. I took a look and saw these two: http://www.silverfishlongboarding.com/forum/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=20014&title=single-randal-150-w-2f-extra-base-plate&cat=16 and http://www.silverfishlongboarding.com/forum/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=20104&title=randal-180-2c-42-deg-2c2425&cat=16 Here's a guide on bushings: http://www.motionboardshop.com/pages/bushing-selector Churchill Red Eyes (2nd from bottom): http://churchillmfg.com/store/wheels/ Silverfish: http://www.silverfishlongboarding.com/
