• 2 Monitors + 2 Keyboards + 2 Mice, 1 computer?

This isn't a problem or anything, so I hope this is the right section. Basically I believe my computer is strong enough to run 2 instances of small games at once. Because of this I wonder if it's possible, with only 1 desktop, to use 1 mouse and keyboard for 1 screen, and the other mouse and keyboard on the other screen? I've looked around Google but no results really give a definitive answer to this question. I am not interested in buying another cheap computer saying it's small games I want to run here.
I spent a long while look around for support for this, and while there are a few programs (i cant remember them now), none of them *really* work in the way you are looking for. Plus, its difficult to get programs to accept different inputs The best i managed to do was to launch 2 copies of tf2, then bind my second keyboard and mouse to a joystick using glovpie. Then i set the second copy of tf2 to use that joystick input.. Then i think you may have to set both applications to be 'at the front' using an application that, unfortunately i just cant remember the name of. Window manager or something? Though, in my case, problems with the source engine meant that it didnt work quite as well as id hoped :smith:
Back in the dinosaur days of computers (when they cost $5000 a piece), there was a company that made a PCI card that plugged into one computer and turned it into two machines by giving the necessary ports on the back of the PCI card (monitor, PS/2, sound). I'm not sure if anyone still makes stuff like that, but it'd probably do what you wanted.
I found these in a thread on another forum (posted in 2006 though). http://www.aikotech.com/thinserver.htm http://softxpand.londonweb.net/?rid=fm http://www.thinsoftinc.com/product_pc_sharing_betwin.aspx I dunno if they will even work or if you should even try them, it's up to you, but be careful, dunno what would happen if they don't work.
The only problem with those solutions is that they probably don't have any sort of 3D acceleration, so even if games ran, they would probably run like ass.
I would look into something like this: http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/dh2go
Matrox DualHead2Go is an external multi-monitor upgrade that adds two monitors to your laptop or desktop computer. It connects to the video output of your system and uses its existing GPU to provide high-quality, uncompressed graphics and video across all monitors. Ideal for business and professional users looking to increase their productivity with a dual display setup, this small box lets you run different applications on each monitor or view one application across two monitors. Working with multiple monitors lets you organize your workspace more efficiently, multi-task more comfortably and make fewer errors. DualHead2Go is available in DisplayPort, Digital, or Analog Editions.
You wouldn't need 2 mice or keyboards. There's also gotta be some software solution because my work uses something like this when you double tap a key the keyboard and mouse switches to the next monitor.
SGI made a card that did what you wanted and it made sense if you could not afford a second system. You put it in your PCI equipped SGI Fuel, Tezro, or an Octane, Onyx 2 or Origin 2000 with a shoehorn/shoebox) and if you had two video pipes you could dedicate one pipe per user.
UNIX and Linux yes of course you can. Windows nope. From what I understand you may be able to attach a mouse and keyboard to the usb of a vm.
