• Help with Acer case and AsRock motherboard.

So facepunch. I'm trying to install new parts into a build and I found the Acer case has a different front-panel connector then the motherboard. Here is a picture... Would anybody know how to connect it to the motherboard? I'm able to cut up wires etc and I have a spare USB connector I could use if anybody could find the pinout. I would assume there would be a replacement cable or an adapter somewhere you could buy. Have you checked around?
Ahh yes. I had a similar problem. I looked up what each color was and then I "spliced" the headers and worked perfectly.

I have to have this machine running today. All the wires are there I'm just not sure where the hell they go because Acer used "F_P1" connectors to ensure people don't not-use foxconn motherboards.
It would be easy to find the pinout yourself, just follow the wires. The LEDs need to match up to positive and negative, but the power button doesn't need to. You'll probably need to remove the front panel and look. If anything, check the old motherboard and see if that connection is labeled (Or find a motherboard manual for it online).
All I want is to be able to turn this sucker on. The only thing I need hooked up is the PWR BTN correct? LED's are overrated for what I need. [editline]7th January 2011[/editline] People, I have figured out a way I could make this work, I switched the ends of the connector because it just so happens my power button on the front panel has a pin header. So I switched them vice versa and plugged the two pin into my 5x1 pin front panel connector on the motherboard. The only thing I need is power btn correct?
ok,i'll take a look in my motherboard manual to see which color wire goes to which pin

System runs great, thanks for your support.
My ASRock motherboard screwed over my front panel connector as well, all I have is the power button plugged in.
get some copper wire and insert it into where the power buttons connectors are, then wrap them around the headers on the motherboard. make sure to put some paper or something in between them.
One way would be to move the wires around in that plastic bit, then attach and go.
