Probably because the 300 and 200 series are literally exactly the same.
Didn't nVidia block SLI on rebrands ?
Yeah, nvidia doesn't allow it, but AMD pretty much always has. I believe there was some success though with custom bioses to get 9800gtx+'s to SLI with GTS 250's. [editline]15th July 2015[/editline] Also AMD allows different cards to be crossfired, like a 7970GHz and 7950 can be, but it would just act like 2 7950's.
I remember you could fool SLI by flashing similar cards with the same firmware. I had an 8800GT and 9800GT working in tandem years ago.
Cant seem to find if this works with X's. Would definately be cool with buying an R9 380x if it will run with my 280x [editline]15th July 2015[/editline] Nevermind, just realized there isn't an R9 380x
Didn't nVidia block SLI on rebrands ?
Yeah, Nvidia has a history of arbitrarily disabling SLI. AMD's cards might be rebrands, but at least they're not pulling bullshit like that,
