What do you want the far future to look like/have?

Title says it all, post what you'd want life to be like/what you'd want to see in the year 4070 or something like that.
I'd probably want citizens to have some sort of chip in their head that detects if they have violent/murderous thoughts, which would then immediately make them not make them think of violence.... or some shit like that :vs:
At least there wouldn't be any of those serial rapists roaming the streets anymore if there was something like that
I'd want people to have some sort of chip in their head that detects if they have thoughts about putting chips into people's brains that control their thoughts.
Seriously though, humanity not being stuck, living on this planet or even this solar system - dare I hope this galaxy? - would be cool. I really have no idea what I'd want the far future to have cause I have no idea what people would value then.
i just want people to get the fuck along

seriously whats the point of going to space if we cant sort shit out on the planet we were born and raised on
I think people in the future should have mortality. Death is a constant that keeps us all grounded, and I think that's very important for progress into the future. If you have a society of immortals, what happens when they all get bored?
That said, extended lifespans wouldn't be such a bad thing. I think we could do a lot more if we lived longer.
I want bionic eyes, that could be upgraded or switched to perform specific tasks, like additional zoom levels.
Also, bionic eyes with built-in laser pointers.

People are already working towards negligible senescence in humans, aka no symptoms of aging. That should help.
As for indefinite lifespans or "immortality," it's quite possible it's something we're destined to become.
I'd want Half Life 3.
I want people to have privacy in the future. I want heavy limitations on government or corporate ability to look at what you're doing. I'd like for us to be immortal, hell, I hope we somehow find a way to resurrect the dead, that would be fucking radical. I'd like for us to extend beyond Earth on to other planets. I'd like for sentient robots to be a thing, with full rights, naturally. I'd like us to work out how to make sure that everyone is eating, everyone is sheltered, and everything is fine for as many people as is possible. 'Third world countries' shouldn't be a problem. I want people to focus more on what they can contribute to the arts, and humanity, than trying to achieve a standard nuclear family. I want LGBT rights to be assured. If possible, I think it would be very interesting to bring extinct species back from the dead, like neanderthals. I want war to be a true last resort, and something that gets used hopefully never. I want politics to have sorted itself out in to an entity that exists, truly, for the people, with no corruption.
Also, I'd like to be there.

Maybe so, but I wonder if we'll be able to handle it. And what would that mean for us as a species? If we had immortality today, what would change? Assuming our neoliberal system continues into the future, what happens when you're working for the same employer for hundreds or thousands of years? At least in the early years, someone is going to want to exploit it for temporary gain. What happens to economics when people live forever?
It's an impossible quandary. If we live forever, we could very well lose our humanity.
Define humanity. If you're going to have a philosophical discussion about what immortality would mean for humanity, then I think humanity needs to be explained - what is it and why would losing it be a bad thing.
to be honest, if we were to cure all the illnesses of aging that we have today (cancer, arthritis, etc), there will probably be more problems down the line that we are currently unaware of, such as problems to occur if you are, say 130 years old. but since no one really reaches those ages right now, we arent aware of the health problems that occur until then
I want to be happy.
Basically Halo without the genocidal aliens and rebellious outer colonies.
I'd say we're better off without one
I want it to have humans

Those are some good questions, but what makes you think it would even be all that different from how we live right now?
Even if you were biologically immortal now, you'd still be faced with the need to eat, drink, rest, avoid sustaining injuries or catching diseases, etc. Biological immortality doesn't ensure your survival, so not everything would change.
Hell, saying "We could very well lose our humanity!" is a bit silly don't u think? Like a classical person being introduced to metal-music. :v:

So you want a future like in A Clockwork Orange?
I'd like to see the inevitable collapse that's coming in a thousand years or so to be handled as smoothly as possible, and all of the civilizations which rise and fall (oscillating between the lifestyle we currently enjoy and medieval conditions) to last for at least a few hundred thousand more years.
I want the far future to be exactly like Star Trek. Based holodecks.

So, here's a question. If civilization is sent back to medieval times, and we rebuild, do we get another Steve Jobs? Will our great figures have parallels, assuming people are the result of their environments?
I want to see a future that's a culmination of all the goofy futures seen in 80s and 90s sci-fi movies.

What the heck do you mean?
Lasers and death tanks blowing people up, ultra-nukes blowing shit up, and planetary laser death systems blowing the fuck out of shit. Yea.
What the heck do you mean?
Basically, if we have to rebuild, assuming we lose all knowledge of what we have now, would we take the same path? Would we have similar developments, similar technologies?
A transhuman society and technocratic government should be the way, and that government being a globalized and bigger version of the United States of America. Sure, getting a worldwide government would be difficult, but in my opinion, we'll really only have peace once some massive world power (the United States) overpowers everyone else into submission. The colonization of things in space would also be great.

Happiness is mandatory. Unhappiness is treason. Treason is punishable by death.
I always predicted that in the future we will have special backpacks that randomly say funny big bang theory quotes when ever you wear them, accompanied with special gun inside that can be used to shoot anyone who wears those stupid things.
