if someone is shot and you have a tampon to plug the wound with, should you remove the bullet first?
What a strangely fascinating question. You aren't in this situation are you
Doctor facepunch says not to believe things you saw on 4chan, though sometimes true.
No, you better let it stay where it is and let a real doc handle this
this is purely hypothetical...
drop everything and make a thread about it
~hypothetical~
if its on your arm or something, i suppose you could, although only for a short time before infection and loss of limbs occur :O
I would remove the bullet cause then it show you got a pair XD The tampon would then remove those balls, cause seriously, why do you have one in the first place?
I've heard it isn't really necessary to remove the bullet in a lot of cases.
No. Keep the bullet in place, go to hospital. And unless it's a proper wound/trauma dressing then no, you would not stick a tampon in a bullet hole. [editline]04:16PM[/editline] Although, it is a good idea and can be considered if there is no chance of a fast response coming to help.
fun fact: wound treatment is the original purpose of tampons :v:
There is a bit of a difference in how and why they are made today to back then. and a big difference in comparison to a modern day dressing. =/ I would recommend using that idea in a remote area where help will be longer than say... 10-15 minutes. Of course using your judgement along with that as to how severe the bleeding is.
