• Source games causing artifacts, then crashes.

I've got a 5770 and I'm using the 10.6 drivers. It seems that playing a Source game will be fine, but if it crashes or I close it, then re-open the game, I'm greeted by hard artifacts, a freeze, then a BSOD. It gives me a generic reason about atikmpag.sys, which I guess is the driver shitting out on me. It doesn't do this with any other game. Any ideas?
Try cleaning out your 5770's heatsink and reinstalling the drivers.
I'm fairly sure it isn't a heat problem since it's kept rather cool. [editline]01:22PM[/editline] Used DriverSweeper and re-installed 10.6 drivers. Gonna see if it still happens. [editline]02:12PM[/editline] Nope. Still happens. Had an artifact -> freeze -> crash after a map change in Garry's Mod. [editline]02:40PM[/editline] Cleaned out the heatsink, wasn't much in there but we'll see if it makes a difference.

If it's not high, then the card might be dying.
under full load it's maybe 50 degrees celsius [editline]05:04PM[/editline] [quote]Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BlueScreen OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.48 Locale ID: 1033 Additional information about the problem: BCCode: 116 BCP1: FFFFFA8004FAE4E0 BCP2: FFFFF88003F24C48 BCP3: 0000000000000000 BCP4: 0000000000000002 OS Version: 6_1_7600 Service Pack: 0_0 Product: 256_1 Files that help describe the problem: C:\Windows\Minidump\071210-15740-01.dmp C:\Users\Tony\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-47018-0.sysdata.xml Read our privacy statement online: [url]http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=104288&clcid=0x0409[/url] If the online privacy statement is not available, please read our privacy statement offline: C:\Windows\system32\en-US\erofflps.txt [/quote]
Updated BIOS to see if that would fix anything. Nothing bad has happened so far.

i didn't feel it with my hand, i'm telling you that that's the usual temp i get when i log it. [editline]10:13AM[/editline] I'm thinking about using Tweakforce drivers instead of ATi's. Think this will cause any problems?
What are you using to log it? and dont use third party drivers. They are nice and tweaked but wont fix annything.
HWMonitor
