Will a switch fulfill my needs? (split a connection between devices)

Alright guys, my predicament is pretty simple. I have 3 devices in my room that are in need of wired network connections (PC, PS3, Xbox 360). I don't really like the way I have to do things now, seeing as I only have one ethernet cable going into my room and have to constantly switch it in between the devices as I see them needing internet capabilities. Would a switch allow me to plug in one cable and have at least 2 coming out of it, going into separate devices?

Another quick question, though, will a switch interfere with speed much, and will I need to configure it to use ports and shit, or is it just plug and play?
