Day Z should never have been put on sale at all in its current state. I'm not sure if zombies still clip through walls, but that's just ridiculous. I expect at least something like KSP or Minecraft Alpha/Beta when I have to pay for a game. Also, yes I might be a bit angry with Day Z because I wasted a lot of money on it and it completely turned me away from most if not all Early Access games.
Someone pointed out that Bohemia made a small announcement about it themselves.
I don't recommend this game to anyone. It's nothing but boring open world PvP that can barely run at 20 frames per second on a GTX 680 system. And the main project lead is also going to abandon DayZ in the fall. This means that the game will NEVER EVER be finished. And why should it? They've already made millions from a broken game that isn't even on par with the mod.
Its only because it made some very serious cash in a short time, thats why its on sale.
Someone pointed out that Bethesda made a small announcement about it themselves.
Bethesda?
It's also the most pitiful summer sale
Bethesda?
Bah. You know.
Bethesda?
What is Todd Howard lying about this time?

I'm going to point to this every time someone asks if Rust will be discounted during the summer sale. (Garry has already said, definitively, that it won't be. For the same reasons Dean Hall has.)
I think he means Dean Hall is leaving the team to go back to New Zealand. But the rest of the DEV team are being supported by Bohemia so the game isn't going to cease development.
Early Access games should not be on sale.

Dean Hall was the one who posted about it because he misses his home country of New Zealand and doesn't really like the Czech Republic. Still can't get past 15 FPS on my GTX 680. My friends PCs are the same way and they all have 770s and R9 290s.

Even if he does, he's leaving it in a team that knows what to do. Dean himself doesn't actually do anything anymore. He's simply the voice of the team and he said he wanted to distance himself from that before he pulled some Todd type shit. Also, I've got a 660 I run the game perfectly fine. Just because you slap a expensive graphics card in the toaster your grandmother bought you several years ago doesn't mean it'll run flawlessly. The game even has a gigantic warning "DO NOT BUY THIS GAME, IT IS IN ALPHA. DO NOT BUY IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT." listed all over the place. And that is exactly what it is. An Alpha, not a beta. A bare bones version of the game that still has a long way to go. And it's been vastly improved since the mod.
Didn't it go on sale during the winter sale too?

If you want to play DayZ just download one of the various mods for ArmA 2. Some of them are arguably better than standalone atm. The only thing they all miss is the weapon customization. ArmA 2 also has loads of other mods for it, and despite its glitchy nature it can end up being damn fun. Or you can get Arma 3 when and if it goes on sale and wait for DayZ mods to be developed for it.
It's also the most pitiful summer sale
The other day there was a %15 off title on the daily deal. A MERE 15% OFF FOR A DAILY DEAL. Absolute heresy.
The other day there was a %15 off title on the daily deal. A MERE 15% OFF FOR A DAILY DEAL. Absolute heresy.
I wonder if Bohemia actually cleared that sale, or if Valve reserves the right to put something on sale based on the cut they take (which is about 30% I remember). So it could be that Valve just forfeits half their share and Bohemia still gets the same amount per copy. [editline]21st June 2014[/editline]
Look it up yourself. The guy's been working abroad a lot longer than originally intended. I think it's great he said he's staying till the end of the year. Still gives him plenty of time to finalize his part in the design, and gives us clarity on when he's leaving the project, instead of just dropping a bombshell the day before he gets on the plane back to NZ. We're not entitled to dictate his life.
yes it's still buggy, but it's an alpha and things are being worked on
at a snail's pace yeah

I'm not poor after all; I payed for a quality system build and I expect better from a company that has made tens of millions of dollars in profits off of this title.

CPU imho is dominant in some cases.
It's also the most pitiful summer sale
All the sales are the same you just own all the games you are interested in.
3 days in and you're complaining. Nice. Do you suffer from premature ejaculation?
Nah I'm just not seeing the point in paying $26 for an unfinished game. Sale so tiny it was probably just a way to get DayZ into the front page and into the media spotlight again. It's pretty obvious it was too after reading this article. Right now im trying to get my CS crates sold so I can pick up Prison Architect or Payday so I have something else to play with. OH WAIT you think I mean the whole entire sale is bad, NONONONONO I think it's fantastic. It's just the DayZ deal was pitiful.
then why did bohemia interactive buy cauldron ltd to help with dayz development? just for shits and giggles?
No Bohemia Interactive hired them to do the Arma 3: Karts DLC.
And the main project lead is also going to abandon DayZ in the fall. The games unfinished, sure, but there is fun to be found. You don't have to make shit up just because you're bitter. I find the fun in interacting with other people and a bit of roleplaying. If you're just playing it like a deathmatch, that's your choice, but it's really not the best way to play it. And KOS isn't as prevalent as people make it out to be. [editline]21st June 2014[/editline]
No Bohemia Interactive hired them to do the Arma 3: Karts DLC.
That was made by one guy in his spare time

Also, you probably have a technical problem there because I don't know of anyone whose game runs that badly, even on worse systems. Try updating your graphics card drivers.
