• How bad is stalling a car?

My dad offered me, instead of him, to drive somewhere. I had been preparing for this moment by watching lots of youtube videos. Since I had gotten the general method of how to operate a standard transmission, I thought I was good to go. Started up the car by how I saw in the videos, check. Got the car in first gear and started to inch forward, check. It was a little jumpy, but I did manage somehow to get it on my first try. He told me to drive around the neighborhood a bit, practicing my shifting skills. I was so nervous it was kind of hard to shift and all. I was doing great, but then I hit a stop sign. I try and do what I did first successfully but failed. Started it up, failed again. Did it again and worked. We went a tiny bit and he told me to practice entering first gear. I could not then all of the times I tried (3). He said it was bad for the car and to find a better car to practice on. Since then I've googled this and found answers that it doesn't hurt the engine. Maybe when you start it ect. Need some clarification here, please. Don't laugh please, it's my first time driving stick and I'm 16
So what's the problem? Figure it out....
Lol'd
it shouldn't hurt the car at all
it shouldn't hurt the car at all
Thank you
I misread this as stealing a car.
It doesn't hurt the engine but it wears off the sparks.
It might hurt the car if you don't lube the gear stick. You'll also want to cover it in latex to avoid STDs.
It doesn't hurt the engine but it wears off the clutch. Just push the gas pedal half way and gently release the pressed clutch. You need to "feel" it.
How bad does it wear the clutch?
What? This ISN'T about stealing a car? Well, damn...
How bad does it wear the clutch?
Sorry I misunderstood the post. I thought you meant something else. Stalling wears off the spark plugs in an engine. But only a little bit, and replacing them is very common and easy. I thought you meant the problem when you release the clutch too abruptly. My bad.
You wouldn't stall a car...
How bad is Stalling a car, you say? I imagine it would get annoyed pretty fast.

My bad.
Usually when I stalled it was when I released the clutch too fast or gave too little gas.
