Okay I know that TCP connections are for transferring data across the internet but I'm trying to source unknown spikes in bandwidth usage.
I'd like to know if i should be worried about my resource monitor looking like this:

No.. Especially if you have a lot of different programs running
I only have Google Chrome running..

Funny... Try opening task manager and take a look
there seems to be multiple instances of google chrome in the background doign nothing. Odd. Oh well if the overall bandwidth useage isnt that much - judging from the graph in task-manager I should be fine.
I was just unsure about the TCP connections.
I would only worry if you can't download or play online games up to par with your paid connection. If you're on a wireless network, passcode that mothafucka, otherwise if you have neighbors pretty close aka apartments or trailer park, they might be stealing your internet.
If not, then you can only assume it's the family, and if you're all alone in the middle of bum-fuck-egypt, perhaps you could use cain and abel to trace your tcp connections and where they are coming from.
