Screen goes black every so often now.

For the past month, every once in a while my monitor goes black on me while it's still on, it could be during anything. Like browsing the web, playing a steam game like Gmod, anything.

But now it's happening more often when I upgraded my XP on Microsoft.com, usually when im outside while Gmod is loading, or firefox loading a forum, I come back to find my monitor gone black and not turning on makes it a pain in the ass.

First it goes Black, and sometimes it's either orange or green.

At other person, sorry I'm not good at computers so I wouldn't what your saying.

Edit: About my screen, it just goes black, and when it's black, it's still on, just the light shows its on.

And sometimes when it does turn back on, the screen is just messed up and I can't see anything correctly.

Video card could be going bad. I had an HD2600XT in another computer and it would do what you are talking about. Screen freezes, goes black, comes back on after a few seconds. Just replaced it with a Geforce 8400GS because I jsut use that compy for a media center in the living room.

I got one of the ATI graphics cards, and my computer is kind of old.

Sorry about double post, but my Dad thinks it's Steam. I'm telling him it could be the graphics cards, since I have HL2 on the lowest settings possible but it's still to high.

He says he might uninstall steam and delete everything off my computer.

And my monitor doesn't come back on.
