I'm stuck and confused at which card I should buy. I'm currently using the almost-a-year-old 295 GTX. My specs for now: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000 4GB DDR2 Corsair Dominator RAM 500 GB Hard disk Space Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit Nvidia Geforce 295GTX 1792MB 896-bit DDR3 Asus Maximus II MOBO 850 Watts powersupply So which card do you guys suggest? Get another 295, or get the HD 5970 or wait for the 300 series? My budget is $500
I think your GPU is fine. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145260 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115215 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131599
Yeah but it still had some lags when you maxxed out Crysis:Warhead, S.T.A.L.K.E.R series and Operation flashpoint: Dragon Rising. Those are Graphic hungry games. FPS was about 25-35 on 2560x1600. L4D2 was fine so far.
Turn down the antialiasing.

Its probably your CPU, and RAM

Get the HD5970 and send your old one to me since it's so old and useless anyways.....

You don't need a better card right now. Just wait. Also, seriously, just drop the resolution down if you want to max a game out. I can't justify a reason except to be able to say in 'Post your computer' that you can max out crysis at 2560x1600. There are not many games worth playing that can't be played just fine with a GTX 295 at 2560x1600.

If anything your CPU is holding you back, but not by much.
If anything your CPU is holding you back, but not by much.
So its still better to get the i7 but I had to change the whole goddamn MOBO if I do that.
So its still better to get the i7 but I had to change the whole goddamn MOBO if I do that.
I wasn't saying update your rig to i7 since right now that's pointless, at least I think it is. I don't think you need to upgrade your system at all since by the time games that will come out that will push it, newer, better, cheaper hardware will be out. I was once part of the "upgrade purely because I can" crowd but that's pretty pointless in retrospective. You have no reason to upgrade, save your money, and if you can't save your money then you're to immature to take intelligent advice, but again, that's my opinion.
No, it's better to get the i5 that I posted.

I just leave the rest as it's own.
And get 64 bit. You're wasting like a gig of ram.
And get 64 bit. You're wasting like a gig of ram.
Yup I know. its 4 gig but it will only show 3 gigs cause of the os. Silly me. Planning to change to W7 Ultimate 64-bit maybe next year......
If your getting rid of that Nvidia 295GTX PM me :P
If your getting rid of that Nvidia 295GTX PM me :P
We'll see about that if I decide to get the 300 series Nvidia instead :)
