Totally downloading, need to debate what I buy now due to the amount of games coming out.
What's this? A demo 3 weeks before release?
Pinch me, I must be dreaming.
The fuck is a "Demo"?

It's like a DLC but free and early

You must be mistaken. DLC is never free, or early.
Time, to create a police state!
A list of new features...
...Actually it looks exactly like Tropico 3

I should hope so, I haven't gotten around to playing T3 even after buying it during the STEAM sale.
Props to the devs for a PC demo

Maybe but Tropico 3 is pretty enough as it is, you could just zoom in to ground level, look into the horizon and get some pretty awesome scenery of your city.
Also means they focused on the gameplay too. Which usually isn't a bad thing.
I forgot to mention there's hardly any new buildings.
I must say I'm really looking forward to this. Downloading the demo right now.
Alright, as a loyal Tropico fan I've given it a playthrough and here's what I think:
They've definitely addressed some issues of the old game, and some of the new features really stand out. The challenges, although they've existed in tropico 3, but seem somewhat better now because you get a lot more of them. It's nice because it feels a bit more directional, as opposed to the other game which just said 'do this by 1980 to win' and left you alone for the rest of it. It was nice having that much freedom, but often times it left you with nothing to shoot for other than to just build stuff once you got the money, with no real goal other than just improving your islands happiness. There were some objectives in the other one, but they were often so brief that you'd get them out of the way in a second and go back to doing nothing. Although the objectives are nice in Tropico 4, I think they went a bit overboard with their ammount. By the end of the game I had 7 objectives, (the max) and I was struggling to finish them before the game ended. Another thing I noticed was that the objectives were a lot less... story related. In T3 every island had their own little objectives (and decisions), sometimes being seriously tourism based, another time it was a large series of things you could do to spread a myth of a monster living on your island. This time they seem a lot less interesting, and more along the lines of "Export 500 tobacco."
I do like the added nations though. (ME, EU, USA, USSR, China) They make trade a bit more interesting and add a bit more depth to the game, like that task where you had to voice your opinion on who Tibet belonged to. I like the import feature, it lets you develop an industrial economy on the island without having a lot of raw resource on the island. It also prevented my people from starving because I'm always too busy to build corn farms. I appreciated them trying to fix the long waiting times to build something by adding an auto build feature, but I think they should have gone to the source, the construction crews. It's so annoying seeing a construction building say 'no current projects' when I have 5 unbuilt structures standing around. I also noticed some interesting things like a new enemy - 'criminals', who are separate from rebels. There are some bad things I noticed about the game, like how El Presidente recycles tons of lines from Tropico 3 (listen to the campaign speeches) but this shouldn't be a problem at all if you're new to the series. I noticed the objectives tend to baby you a bit (like dropping most of the factions happiness down to like 10% in the election until you passed the social security edict) but I think that's just because it's the demo and it's oriented towards new players, not so much Tropico veterans.
Either way, I give this game a thumbs up. It stayed true to it's predecessor, unlike some other games I've seen. The game is beautiful, just like the last, the humor is hilarious, the gameplay is great. I think the thing to remember about this game is that it might be easy, but it's not 100% meant to be played the way it's made. When you play through it once you might think it's easy (I was sitting on 200,000k at the end of the game), but the same doesn't apply when you think of some creative circumstances to play under, such as building a giant oppressive military and assassinating all members of a certain faction (environmentalists), or playing as a super nationalist who doesn't allow any immigration to his island.
20 new buildings? That's it D:?
You must be mistaken. DLC is never free, or early.
That's what he said?
"Six new interactive disasters including volcanoes, droughts and tornadoes."
"Council of Ministers – selected citizens to mimisterial posts in the government to help push through your more controversial decisions."
"Trading system – import and export goods to/from other nations to boost your economy or production."
These sound actually really good.
I collapsed with excitement when i read the title.
Yeah, demos are always welcomed.
Never played Tropico before, but I just played the demo and am now strongly considering getting T4... I'd say that that demo worked as a success...
It reminds me a tiny bit of Dungeon Keeper and Evil Genius.
The new disasters are great for 2 reasons:
The first is that they're actually scary. In T3 an earthquake would take out 2 buildings and that's all. In this one, a tornado appeared waaay out in the country side, and started taking out farms. I had 2 farms and a lumbercamp more or less close together. It took out the first 2 and I was like... aight. Then it started heading for the third one and I was thinking to myself, shit this thing must target buildings on purpose... After taking out all 3 it turned and started heading towards my city center. My city had been extremely dense, and I'm sitting there watching this like FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK. The tornado faded out after reaching the palace (Palace can't be destroyed), taking with it a total of 10 casualties as it paraded through the city streets.
The second good thing about the disasters is the buildings get reduced to a scrap pile and you can click on them to rebuild them again. It still costs the same as building a new building, but it saves you the trouble of having to place it again, a nice little touch.

Considering how unforgiving T3 was, that might not be a bad thing.
Oh, something I'd like to know. Is appointing ministers in the demo and can you name them yourself?
Amazing demo - can't wait for the full game.

Good review, but it was kind of short. No but seriously everything this person said is accurate.
Played through it a second time, was a bit more successful this time:

Winning screen, embezzled $500,000 into my own account, as well as had an island with 727 inhabitants. I played through the game as a supreme military overlord with an army of 30 or so people. They had 1 skirmish against 15 or so rebels, the rest of the battles after that were all one-sided (30 vs. 4) slaughters in my favor. I raped the island's resources with woodcutting and mining, had a giant fishing operation on the opposite side of the island. The rest of my economy was made of tobacco farms and industry. To go along with the military role, I killed anyone that dared to go on strike, and paid my soldiers and generals maximum salary.
Another thing I'd like to note, apparently this game is a lot better optimized/coded. Back in T3 when I hit 500 people the game would be nearly unplayable because there was too much for the CPU to do. (I guess the CPU tracked every single person's movements individually) Now they must have coded it better, because I had 700+ inhabitants and I didn't lag at all.

My best city on Tropico 3. Siked as hell for the 4th.
It's really good. Like when L4D2 came out, the original game now seems like a sort of beta version of this game
I want to play it again, but I'm resisting so it won't be old by the time the game comes out (did that with T3)
