I'll definitely side with the Biscuit on the idea that these macro actions were ones you had to do, and as such didn't really add any strategical depth to the game whatsoever. If you do it you're playing the game right, if you aren't you're fucked.
When a boost is a mandatory thing to do at every possible time it's available it doesn't serve any real purpose other than scaring away beginners and creating unnecessary busywork for the pros that could better be spent on important decisions and micro-managing units.
So no macro keys?
Thank God, this was a huge turnoff for me
The problem with this, is that they actually lower the skill ceiling. A bad player doesn't have to use these things, but they will just end up playing against those that don't either.
Knowing when and correctly using them is one of the divisors between good and decent. The only one that kind of doesn't have any trade offs is zerg larvea. But just take the mule.
- if I use it, I won't have energy for scan
Protoss
- what do I use it on.

It will remove "skill" from remembering to perform a repetitive task and put actual skill back in by letting players think about clever strategies to outthink rather than outproduction their opponents. I think it's a great change, it's far more fun and rewarding to outsmart an opponent than beat him because you hit a series of buttons at the right time.

I get what you are saying, and I will defend you with the mules, but lets be honest, absolutely fuck the protoss chrono boost. Its straight up like the only thing you spend energy on AND its pretty much 100% required to keep it up as much as possible.
I love protoss and I dont mind macro/micro at all, but chrono boost was poorly designed since it was pretty much required like I said.
Its a mechanic I really like, but the ways its implemented is just stupid.
