Pretty much Memory Leak: The Game.
I've already purchased simcity 5, how's this for a first time city building guy?
I've already purchased simcity 5, how's this for a first time city building guy?
I would just wait for SC5.
And if you can't wait, check out Anno 2070. Don't buy this crap.
This is a shit game, they release updates and patches in the form of new standalone releases.. Cities XL 2011, 2012, 2013..
Pretty much Memory Leak: The Game.
Shame really, as it would be so good if it was optimized...
Owners of Cities XL 2011 or Cities XL 2012 can purchase Cities XL Platinum for 85% off!
In other words "please please please buy it! Even though it's the same thing as the version you already have including the horrible performance!"
And if you can't wait, check out Anno 2070.
Don't know why this is getting dumb'd, Anno 2070 is spectacular.
Don't know why this is getting dumb'd, Anno 2070 is spectacular.
It doesn't look bad, but from what I have seen it's less "sim city" city buildings and looks more like a strategy game with city building.
Apparently only includes 50 new buildings, no performance fixes. How the fuck have they not worked out how to do DLC yet?

Anno 2070 is close enough and tons, TONS much better. So even though Anno 2070 may be more strategic it still has that city building theme to hold you over.
The problem is this. 1. They released Cities XL Online, and had a lifetime fee for some boxes (like super expensive, but ensured a lifetime subscription with more than 3 nearly done expansions promised). Also sold subscriptions for the online portions and said expansions. 2. A couple months later, they cancel the entire online subscription aspect, everyones money was down the drain. Cities you made online were borked, couldnt initially import to offline. 3. They announce fixes and patches and free dlc (the previously promised subscription dlc/expansions). 4. They never delivered the dlc or fixes (even the most basic bugfixes and crash / memory leak fixes are STILL not even touched or worked on, to this day, 2 years later). 5. They announce Cities XL 2011 which had a fully working offline mode this time (wow!!!) and some new buildings and maps, and public transport which was one of the promised free dlc. (it is tiny, like 3 different buildings, hardly expansion worthy). 6. They announce Cities XL 2012 which has some new buildings and maps, and some theme buildings for making a ski resort which was the FIRST promised free dlc, promised to come out for FREE to everyone a month after Cities XL Online's release 2 years ago. 7. Still no bugfixes AT ALL, not a single one. Still no optimization. No work what so ever on the engine, no crashfixes, no memory leak fixes, nothing. That is why, my friend. They basically sat in their office doing NOTHING the past 2 years / games. Just re-releasing it as a new game with some previously completed dlc imported in to the game. Heck, the models and textures for the ski resort & holiday pack was done 2 years ago for crying out loud!
Sums it up pretty nice.
