My motherboard is an Intel DG31PR, and I got a new CPU for Christmas, am Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400. I used all the safety precautions and quadruple checked that the pins were lined up. When I turn on the computer the fan above the processor even turns on. But my moniter says that there's no video input. Did I forget to do something? Sorry about grammar I'm typing on my iPod.
Flash your BIOS to a newer version so that your motherboard can use newer processors.
I was hoping that would be a last resort, do I need to do that? I put my old processor back in and it's working again, so I know I didn't break anything.
That CPU is supported, but you need a recent BIOS version.
You can look everything up here: http://processormatch.intel.com/CompDB/SearchResult.aspx?BoardName=DG31PR
