Yesterday someone stole my iTouch 4th gen, I really don't think I can get it back but still... The thing was password locked, and so the only way they could format it is by restoring it. But, every restore must be verified by Apple right? So when they restore it Apple will have something logged that says "Ipod 90789a6532hd903 was restored at *this* IP address. So, shouldn't there be someway of tracing it back? Or is there no way to track it like that? Or some other kind of software they could use that does't require a restore with Apple? Any help IS help, so thank you Facepunch.
iTouch hngghhh

Buy another Ishit and make Apple even more rich

I just want to know if there is a way they can restore it without notifying Apple.
You'd be better off contacting Apple and explaining your situation to them, to see if they can help you.
Restoring notifies Apple? :wtc:
Since when?
Let me rephrase this. Is there a way to restore an iTouch 4th gen without using iTunes?
I just found and iTouch 4th gen but is has a password? Is there anyway i can get the password?
I don't know that each restoration of an iPod is logged by Apple in any manner, but even if that's the case, Apple is probably in no mood to help you find it. They would probably default to saying it's a matter for the police, and way too much trouble for them to provide information like the last IP address it was used from. All the means are there, they could log the IP address and provide it to the police, who would need to take it through the ISP to get a physical address, I just don't see why any of the aforementioned parties would spend time or resources doing so.
No... I just want to know if when they sync it will it be flagged or something? Every time it is restored Apple has to verify it. So I want to know if I can call customer support in a day or so and they can tell its be restored at blahblahblah. I know the best thing to do is just give up because it's not going to lead anywhere, but I may as well try.

And if I remember correct, I can restore and sync music to my iPhone & iPod without being connected to the internet.
Yeah pretty sure apple don't get 'notified' that someone is restoring their iPod to factory settings.

Your only question should be is who the fuck has your ipod.
All you have to do is whine like a baby.
Or just try to call the cops or Apple?
