Asus is really on their game, I can't wait to see some more information on this. Definitely going to save up for this if the price isn't ungoldly high and the rest of the specs match up to the i5.
Asus just pulled out their Core i5-powered, Windows 7-running Eee Pad Slate tablet, calling it "the most powerful tablet in the world." Probably so! They proved their point by simultaneously playing 1080p video and running photo editing software. The video seems to be running with no problems, and the handwriting recognition Asus is showing off is impressive. It is certainly big and bad, but what remains to be seen is how useful it'll be as a tablet. The title says Table you should probably fix that
Neat.
The title says Table you should probably fix that
Fixed. Thanks for pointing that out, honestly didn't notice.
Now lets see how much it will cost.
if this thing ends up costing ~$800 the iPad would be screwed
Now lets see how much it will cost.
My thoughts exactly. It's going to be pretty damn pricey I'd say, even though ASUS is generally decent on prices. Or my laptop was, at least.
If it's cheaper than the Ipad and as good or better than the Ipad it will do well.
It will come with half the memory loaded with crap from ASUS.
Now lets see how much it will cost.
Probably less than the iPad.
If it's cheaper than the Ipad and as good or better than the Ipad it will do well.
I bet you, even if it costs 10 dollars, people will still buy the iPad. /applerage
Probably less than the iPad.
realistically speaking, it'll probably end up costing ~$1000
Probably less than the iPad.
I doubt it, depending on the specs I wouldnt be surprised to see ~$1000 price tag. Edit: Kind of ninja'd
I doubt the battery will last very long when you use resource-intensive applications. You have to make significant performance compromises if you want to make a functional mobile device. Also, I don't think comparing this to the ipad is really such a good idea. This sounds more like a productivity tool with it's decent processor and ports whereas I see the ipad as portable media device.
I see this as something I could us in college come next year. Just gotta save cash and what not. I'd say it'll be as much as the iPad or more really. And chances are, yes, it will be loaded with ASUS crapware, my laptop was. But the shit's easy to get rid of really.
$1000 [editline]4th January 2011[/editline] and a upgraded version for more $$$
$1000 [editline]4th January 2011[/editline] and a upgraded version for more $$$
Meh, $1000 is still really far fetched, even for ASUS.
Yay, a windows 7 tablet. I'd still prefer linux as a tablet OS though.
Yay, a windows 7 tablet. I'd still prefer linux as a tablet OS though.
If it wasn't overly expensive I would actually like it. I mean you would be able to use all your regular applications (if you already use windows, most of which would be free!) in a form factor that resembles the iPad.

eh seems reasonable
HP's Slate for 799 seems more reasonable. I'm not going to get one of these asus things. I already purchased a HP slate , coming next week.
Or just get an equivalent laptop for less. What's the point in this for the average person? [editline]4th January 2011[/editline] Or any mainstream tablet for that matter.

Yeah but... Can it run Crysi-
MSPaint? Hammer Editor?
Exactly my point.
Exactly my point.
If you wanna go beyond average, disabled persons.
If you wanna go beyond average, disabled persons.
I just don't see the point in the huge price premium just for, essentially, a touchscreen.
I'm sure some people have uses for tablets such as this as for me, it would be just something cool to have
