It would be nice if we got any where near the speeds we are promised by the ISPs.
im supposedly meant to have virgin 50mb but i get like 3mb if im lucky and it goes down all the time
virgin suck ass get bt infinity instead
Only 4% of homes in the UK are taking advantage of superfast broadband, according to a report from Ofcom.
It's not that we're not taking advantage, it's that there's no superfast broadband to use in the first place (atleast where I live.)

Am i the only one that doesn't have a problem with Virgin's 50mb, usual steam download is about 5-6mbs and hardly ever goes down apart from maintenance.
I pay for what is supposed to be 24mbps internet (since I'm right near the exchange).
What I actually get is 15mbps. Which I'm actually fine with as I can get 1.7MB/s download speed.
What I'm not fine with however is that I'm limited to a crappy 150GB of bandwidth per month.
Worst part is my city only has 1 allowed ISP, which controls the entire internet around here. So there's no chance of me getting a better deal from an outside company.
My household is paying for ten megabits, I get download speeds of nearly one and a half megabytes. I've noticed a lot of people bitching at a 50 megabit connection because they're not downloading at 50 megabytes a second.

Same here except Im paying for 20mb and getting 1.2mb
maxiumum download speed of 200kbps
Broadband in the UK is fucking diabolical, when we get 4g itll actually be faster than my broadband...
im paying for 50megabits and get almost 4 megabits
not acceptable

Depends on where you live. I have Virgin both at my uni house and parents house and we get the full 30Mb that pay for in both locations.

Theres a new law coming that says they can only advertise speeds if at least 10% of their customers actually have that speed, which should bring some down a bit.
I'm just about to switch over to BT Infininity (Estimated connected at 35mb/10mb) from BT Total Broadband (Connected at 16mb/1mb)
ITT: "Mbit = MByte amrite?"

not a single reply has got that confused....
The UK on the whole lacks the infrastructure to support 50 meg lines across the board. If investment was put in bettering the FTTC infrastructure, the cost for getting fibre connections to houses would significantly decrease.
ISPs think London = Whole of England.
I live in a fairly rural area, and the broadband is shockingly bad. But there's no option to upgrade to fibre optic or anything like that.
Am I the only person with a good connection
I pay for 25Mb/s and get 18Mb/s, plenty for me.
i pay for 50mbps.
i get between 48-52mbps.
life is good.
Wow you guys get such fast internet, I peak at around 320kb/s from Sky internet.

Wow, do you live in Hull too?

Sure do, I live in East Hull, Preston Road.
You wouldn't happen to be related to Scott or Michael Hall who (last I heard) live on Greatfield, would you?
Damn cities have insane internet speeds
Fastest I have access to is 380 kb/s
I pay for 100mbit and get a 100mbit, but everywhere else in aus is super shit, adsl2 being the only option
when I used to have t-mobile broadband, if I went over something like 150 mb, they'd throttle my speed to .1kb/s
that was a bad summer

I'm getting 17 MB/s with 31 ms ping
Must be bad over there for LOTS of people

^There's our first.
Damn, I am really lucky I guess, I pay $80 for basic cable + 30mbit DL / 5mbit UL.

I love paying for 20Mb/s and only receiving 10% of that.
The download speed entirely depends on the host server you're downloading from.
I head that BE is pretty good if you can get it.
