• Bad RAM?

I noticed recently that it seems like I had less RAM than usual. Then after installing Windows updates, Windows failed to start up and startup repair ran. I restarted it and it worked fine after. Now I am getting out of memory errors when I play a game. So is one of my sticks going bad?
Open up your computer, and check if both sticks sits in. Would be very weird if it had jumped out somehow, but check it either way.
Forgot to check, but yes, still seated.
Hmm, try taking one stick out, boot, put it in again take the other out. Try changing slots too, to see if it's your RAM slots going weird. Also, to rule out Windows, check in the BIOS.
What BIOS includes a memory testers? Use memtest86+
What BIOS includes a memory testers? Use memtest86+
I just thoguht that it might just be Windows not recognizing it for whatever reason, as the problem started after an update. And if it was bad RAM, wouldn't it still be recognized? And if it isn't detected in the BIOS, how would memtest detect it? [editline]7th May 2011[/editline] I was about to suggest it, but I don't think it's worth the hassle before we know more.
