Now imagine how much more they would make if they continued production. Oh well, perhaps a new one kn the same exact form factor would sell better?

That's a bit of a split market, no? not everyone wants to drop $300 on a switch and then $5-10 per VC title

I'm pretty sure the people who would/are going to buy a switch wouldn't buy it so they can play ancient games from a console that was most likely made before they were even born
Wasn't the SoC used in the NES Classic discontinued? If so Nintendo would either have to redesign the NES Classic entirely or dump money into producing their own ARM SoCs, which is probably the biggest reason they discontinued it.
