• Most preferred camera mode in racing games?

Self-explanatory. It's not for a study or anything, just out of curiosity. Personally I prefer the bonnet (hood) camera as it provides a mostly unobscured view (compared to the helmet camera or the behind car camera) while also giving a reference for your own car against the track and other cars (un-like the bumper camera). Bumper: low and in-front of the car Bonnet (hood): On top of the bonnet, and in-front of the windscreen Windscreen: Just behind the windscreen, but in-front of the steering wheel (only a few games such as DriveClub or TOCA 3 have this) Helmet: Point of view of the driver, including virtual steering wheel Behind car: Car in full-view
I prefer being behind the car, so I can line up my wheels with edge of turns easier. Second choice would be a helmet cam, for realism
I find it really hard to see turns and that if it isn't behind the car. Usually it's just too low
Behind car for the most useful perspective helmet cam if I want it to feel more realistic
Behind if playing with gamepad. Bumper/hood if playing with wheel.
hood cam because it provides a better sense of speed than behindcam while not having half the view obstructed by the gauge cluster and roof (and having a slightly better sense of how big the car is compared to bumper cam)
The behind view is far too easy. I always play helmet cam whenever possible.
Cockpit view for singleplayer, behind car for multiplayer just to dodge those annoying cocknuggets that try to plow you off the road while you're cornering. such is life in public lobbies in any forza game i've played.
If the game's good and supports my TrackIR, I prefer helmet for the immersion. But I play better with a from-behind look so I got better car awareness.
Inside the trunk
Inside the trunk
Man, have I ever taken many car-rides there back in my highschool days... [editline]10th November 2014[/editline] Oh yeah, when I do drive first-person with my TrackIR, I cannot into driving British and Japanese cars. I can't steer when the car is wrong way around.
Behind the car all day, mainly because being aware of your spacial presence is much harder when viewed from a TV screen rather than irl. Though when VR becomes more mainstream we'll see much more use for helmet cam.
Daytona Usa sure did set my standard for cockpit view exclusively.
cockpit view or any camera that's positioned on the front of the car.
Helmet cam is riskier and more exciting to me.
Cockpit in simulators, behind car in arcade games.
Anything that's not Need for Speed requires hood or helmet view. I find I can better gauge distance and speed in a first-person view.
Simulation - Helmet or Bumper Arcade - Bumper
