Oh god yes. Finally,i can continue playing this series.
annnnd it's delayed, dayum son.
Delayed because they released a demo that contained the entire game, only hidden behind a line or two of hex code.

They recently realeased Ys VIII on steam after a little over half a year of delays, probably hoping their PR team could handle it by giving updates on future patches. It's not going well https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/109665/2b4f6e18-e772-49f1-b444-907925521718/fds.png
The Ys 8 port is utter garbage even after their seven month delay. And their complete revamp of the script, because their original localization was so awful, is still garbage. Script is filled with missing words, duplicated lines, and an absurd amount of typos. The port has tons of crashes on Steam, a fair amount of crashes on Gog, corrupt shaders on Gog (a strobing effect which is really hard on the eyes in several areas as well as the minimap not working correctly), performance issues, controller issues (the game refuses to even see that my XInput controller has triggers despite that kinda being a thing all XInput controllers have), etc., etc. It's a shame they sunk their worthless claws into the game too because it's a fantastic game other than NISA shitting all over it. That garbage heap of a company should never be allowed near any good game again.
Too bad cause I wanted to try it out. I wonder if Falcom's gonna give up on NISA after this, they already went back to XSeed for Memories of Celceta but with that coming out so soon I'm guessing they were already working on it while NISA worked on 8
I really hope they stick with XSeed. If they stay with NISA after this I'll have to pass on future installments even if it is one of my favorite franchises. The only reason I even stuck with Ys8 as it is was because it was a birthday gift from a friend and was a great game, sans port quality. If you're really interested in it I'd recommend waiting until it's on sale for a lot cheaper than it currently is. XSeed's standard price for Ys games (~$20 USD) is all it's worth with NISA behind the wheel, if even that. If you have a console though, I've heard those versions are actually worthwhile.
Should i expect Nippon Ichi to drop their PC support... again?
