How to get steam to work at school behind a firewall?
36 replies, posted
Steam can't connect at school due to their dumb firewall. Is there a program that I can install so that it will? If someone could tell me how to set up my own proxy server at home that I could connect to it would be great as well. Some people already told me sockscap, but that doesn't run on a 64-bit OS. I'll be using my laptop so I can install whatever program I want, so don't worry about that.
HEY DUMBFUCKS, DON'T POST IF YOU CAN'T HELP. IT IS DURING MY TA PERIOD - STOP TELLING ME TO GO LEARN. WE NEVER LEARN ANYTHING USEFUL ANYWAYS. SSH TUNNELS DON'T WORK. I WANT TO PLAY AT SCHOOL, DON'T TELL ME TO DO IT AT HOME. I DO WHILE I'M AT HOME. NO, I DON'T WANT TO GO READ. I READ ENOUGH AS IT IS.
You're at school to learn not play games like CSS
We must go by priority! :clint:
It would be during my TA period, so don't give me that shit. I don't learn anything anyways.
any helpful answers?
Here's one: Playing in school is a fucking waste of time. Do it at home.
i r kewl i play games at skool!
Bring steam on a flash drive. Install games when your at the computer. Beat up kids for lunch money.
Why don't you just leave school for school. Home is where you can play and have fun.

Oh i wonder why.
But any rate, no schools not for games besides if you did do anything you would have the school admins breathing down your neck.
Go get an education rather than playing games.
I AM the school admin. I'm the head of tech, hence tech TA.
STOP FUCKING SAYING SCHOOL IS FOR LEARNING AND NOT GAMES BECAUSE THAT IS NOT HELPFUL AND ISN'T CORRECT ANYWAYS. I WANT HELPFUL ANSWERS. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ONE, DON'T POST.

Its installed on my computer, it just can't connect through the firewall.
If you're the admin, Can't you just allow steam through the firewall?

You're a pretty bad admin.
A bucket of water, perhaps?

Then you should know how to do this shit without kids on facepunch telling you. I think you need to learn to do your job better first.

Also your facebook says you're still in high school.
Don't lie on the internet.
Even if you manage to make a portable Steam installation, most school computers suck.
People like you don't deserve to be at school.
I used to play CS Portable 1.6. It's reasonable quality and you get what you see and expect
I didn't know school was an online server. They have admins who ban whiny kids now?
The firewall is controlled by the district. I can't do anything about it. And yeah, I am in high school. Hence the TA bit. But, you guys can't fucking read so I give up. If you don't have anything helpful to say, don't post.
Not try and run games during school.
FUCKING CHRIST LEARN TO FUCKING READ PEOPLE.

You've obviously never heard of an SSH tunnel before then.

Or even better: study.
Or even better: study.
Study what? We don't have anything to 'study'. If we have a test, I just take it. I've never studied, and I have good grades. Maybe you should just pay attention in the first place if you can't remember the content(which has no useful application in life anyways 99% of the time).
