• $1,200 Gaming PC - Want some opinions
    36 replies, posted
This is my first PC I've ever attempted to build. I've gotten lots of advice from my cousin who knows alot about computer building but I just want to make sure this is good and get a few more opinions before I buy. I`m also wondering what kind of games I would be able to run on this. Thanks. Don't get a deathstar. Much better drive. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136284
Switch out the harddrive for this one. other than the HDD, looks good what res you going to play at?
There's a deathstar hard drive? But eh, that build looks good.
No, the Hitachi deskstar is nicknamed "deathstar", for a good reason too.
No, the Hitachi deskstar is nicknamed "deathstar", for a good reason too.
Yep. I myself have seen 3 die within a week to a month.
Thanks for the help guys. Swapped out the deathstar to what ClaBrendon recommended, close call!
planning to OC?
I'm assuming OC means overclock (sorry, new to this)? I don't think I will if thats what you mean.
yes, overclocking, it might be worth it on the 750, will have to buy a 3rd party cooler though
yes, overclocking, it might be worth it on the 750, will have to buy a 3rd party cooler though
3rd party recommendation = coolermaster hyper 212+
yes, overclocking, it might be worth it on the 750, will have to buy a 3rd party cooler though
It is totally worth it, free performance boost for just a little cash on a new cooler.
It is totally worth it, free performance boost for just a little cash on a new cooler.
That sounds like the government.
That sounds like the government.
I knew someone would say something about that. Still there is no reason not to overclock this awesome processor.
I knew someone would say something about that. Still there is no reason not to overclock this awesome processor.
Oh I know just pointing out that it seemed like the government. "we will give you free money, for a small fee of course."
3rd party recommendation = coolermaster hyper 212+
i second this, but splash out on a push/pull configuration ;)
I think I will go with what I have right now but if I wish to overclock then I will get another cooling system. Thanks for the help guys.

One last question. Will I be able to play games maxed out on this monitor or is it too big?: Hanns·G HG-281DPB Black 28" 3ms Widescreen LCD HDMI Monitor 500 cd/m2 800:1 Built-in Speakers - Retail http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824254026

Yeah I swapped it out. Thanks.
You could swap out the motherboard with this. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128412 http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128412
Reading around on some of the review for the processor I chose, some people are saying the cooler it comes with isn't really that great. I'm hoping to run games like ArmA2 on this so would anyone be able to recommend me a better cooler (if I need one at all)?
Are you planning to overclock?
Currently, no.
Then the stock cooler will do fine. If you want to spend just a little bit then get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065
