I lost it at
Barnes & Noble markets the 6in device as being "amazing in bed"
The perfect gift for the bibliophile!
gee whiz a backlight it's almost as if I'm looking at a normal screen!
gee whiz a backlight it's almost as if I'm looking at a normal screen!
Yeah but it's e-ink so its easy to read and not eye-searing.
Yeah but it's e-ink so its easy to read and not eye-searing.
...Other screens are eye searing because they emit light.
...Other screens are eye searing because they emit light.
Yeah, we seem to be back tracking back into the problem that the e-readers were supposed to solve in the first place.
...Other screens are eye searing because they emit light.
But this isn't the "Row of LED's shining in your face" lighting It's more of an ambient glow without completely raping the contrast
...Other screens are eye searing because they emit light.
Unless I'm mistaken this is more of a sidelight as opposed to a traditional backlight. Plus since it's an ebook reader you can easily have a very warm light as opposed to a cold one used on most LCD screens.
People still buy eReaders instead of tablets?
People still buy eReaders instead of tablets?
They don't exactly sell full-featured tablets with e-ink screens do they?
I guess the whole tablet vs. eReader thing doesn't make sense to me since you can do more with a tablet or a portable media player.
I guess the whole tablet vs. eReader thing doesn't make sense to me since you can do more with a tablet or a portable media player.
My dad likes to read and has no need for anything else.
People still buy eReaders instead of tablets?
eReaders are so good for reading that they suck at anything else. Tablets are so general that they suck at ebooks.
I find the screen on my ASUS Transformer to be find to read with no other lights once the backlight is at minimum and google books is set to night mode. Never had need for this poncy e-ink.
Saying you can read fine from your tablet so you don't want e-ink is like saying you can read fine from a book so you want a tablet. You don't know what you want till you try everything.
People still buy eReaders instead of tablets?
eReader screens are more suited for reading. b&w kindle screen: ipad screen: http://www.bit-101.com/blog/?p=2722
