I really like this game, but it is incredibly stupid. For those of you who don't give a fuck about it:
[sp]Mid way through the game you accidentally warp to an alternate reality Earth set around WW2. The crew gets captured and to secure their release Edge gives the ship's drive core to the woman who captured them. The woman then tries to use the drive to power some dumb super weapon, but she doesn't know how it works so she blows the world up instead. The crew barely make it to the ship to warp away and return to their own reality again.
How did they fly the ship when the drive core was removed? That's a good question, moving on.
So they get back to their reality and Edge is fucking destroyed. He's not responding to people and he keeps talking about how they're responsible for the deaths of billions of people, which they are. The crew act as though he's fucking mental and shrug off their accidental genocide by saying "It was a different reality so it wasn't real." It takes until near the end of the game before Edge gets better/becomes a psychopath like the rest. This entire scenario has no effect on the actual plot of the game.[/sp]
It's so fucking dumb, I love it.
The main character is named Edge Maverick. Edge fucking Maverick. The Chocobo stand in is a fucking giant pink bunny.
10/10. Don't buy it.
I'll never forget the set piece where you basically teleport into area 51 and the alien they captured is literally a cat girl.

Not even the dumbest Star Ocean story.
I really wish they'd remaster 3. As goofy as the story got I greatly enjoyed the gameplay and even the setting.

Spent a lot of time on that game many years ago. Would be nice to replay... I might have to pick this up now since it's on PC
