Its nice, very short and not a lot of content when it comes to squad/base/research, wish it had a little more of that, but the gameplay is very nice.
sweet insta-download.
More pc games need to do this.
The demo was pretty fun, although I wish the beginning was less forced tutorial-y. They choose every action you take for the first mission, and it's kind of annoying that they don't ask you if you know how to play first or something.
Getting a "no subscription" error when trying to download it. Do I need to own the game to download the demo?

I don't own it, and I downloaded it fine. Having to buy the demo would be kinda self-defeating.

I've seen some games give early access to demos with purchase, I just figured it might be the same thing here. Regardless, :(
Nice! This is how to get people to pre-order.

Or maybe some of them not to pre-order, but at least they're being honest.
Maybe they've been watching the way quite a few indie developers have been successful, offering demos long before their games were finished.

Ya, because Xcom is so far from being finished when its getting release October 9th.
Is it any good, I kinda wrote this game off as bad a few months back, it just didn't look good, at all.
Demo...
Nostalgic

I see what you mean - what people think of the demo will have no influence on the final product, because it's already as good as finished.
Let me put it this way then:
Indie developers' habit of people letting people try their game while it's still in development looks like it's a successful strategy.
It might just have given bigger studios the idea to start publishing demos again.
Still a good thing to happen.

You act like a demo is the full experience, and what do you mean bigger studios to start publishing demos again?
Last I checked, they never stopped and have been doing demos all the time.

Name a recent proper demo?

RE6
Torchlight 2
Sleeping Dogs
Orcs Must Die 2.
Just a few I recently played.
Finished the demo in 34 minutes. I would say it was very enjoyable, but I'm not sure if I'd buy it especially at £30. It needs to be a big game with lots of events and missions. If you don't mind downloading 5GB+ then go for it.

I watched an hour long dev play of it, it looks like a massive game.
That and its 20gb big for the final game.

Sweet, I'll see what some reviews say. Cheers.

Damn they got everything bang on, I've got to get some money together and pre-order this on the fucking double.
interesting tid bid:
The way they have the solar system in the geoscape makes me think there might be mission in space/moon at some point, which would be cool as fuck.
