then turns off, all the case fans and lights and eveything turn on but then back of in less than a second please help!!!
you have a fault somewhere, try making sure everything inside the case is plugged in properly like RAM/GPU and even cpu and all the cables
Did you just build this computer? Did you install anything?
We need specs, information on who built the computer, and how old it is, just to get an idea of what problems to start looking for. Otherwise its like saying "My car wont start, please help!"

I am in the proces of building it all i have is case, cpu, psu, hard drive, fans.
I read that if i get the cpu and psu it will start to where i can see if the fan work but it just runs for a second then turns off
do i need the video card and memory before it will keep running?

Not video card, if you have an onboard, but memory, yes. If you don't have ram, it wont "post".
Did you use standoff's when building it?

Check your motherboard manual to see if your CPU is compatible with your motherboard
I had this problem building my cousins computer, CPU was incompatible, so I had to get another one
do you have a HSF on your CPU?
Hey thanks everyone I figured out the problem: my 4x4 12v rail connector was not plugged in. :) pretty funny mistake especially since i was staring right at it.
