I've just purchased a new set of speakers: Creative T6160 to be exact, my problem is the installation procedure. I've plugged in the three input-cables required (Front, Rear, Center/Subwoofer), but my two rear speakers don't work. In the sound panel, both speakers and SPdif are enabled. I've installed the newest Via Audio drivers: http://www.viaarena.com/ViaDisplayDrivers.aspx?Drivers.aspx?PageID=&OSID=55&CatID=3510&SubCatID=203&lang=en-GB. I've set it to 5.1, but no luck. Does anyone have any experience with these kind of setups and have any idea to solve it?
Motherboard: Asrock P45DE
Internal audio card: VIA VT1708S

Double check the speakers are working by swaping them into the front outputs on the sub. And have you set windows to 5.1 speaker mode, and not just the drivers?
I was having the exact same issue with my P5N32-e board when I first got my 5.1 speakers as well. I wasn't able to get it working and just ended up buying a cheap Audigy SE card. I don't want to be that guy that just jumps in saying "buy this, buy that" but really for a 5.1 setup you're probably going to be wanting something a little better than onboard audio. An Audigy SE can still be picked up for under $30.
Remove the plug of the rear speakers from the computer, put your volume on high and tap it a few times with your finger (conecting the circle with the centre pin). This way you can check if they even work.
Also Spdif supports 5.1 (and higher) so you dont need the analog cables to.
