Recently my dads laptop crashed. I'm not very good with laptops and i need an easy way to get everything off of the hard-drive. How do I go about doing this?

Have you got a HD caddy? If not buy one from a store.
You could download a Linux distro, burn it to CD and boot it as a live CD. If you have an external drive you can C&P everything on the HD onto the external. If you do use a Linux CD (I suggest Ubuntu.) make sure you do it as a Live CD otherwise you'll format the HD.

You're assuming the crash wasn't from the HDD.
Do you know what the issue is OP?
What does an HD caddy do?

He's talking about an enclosure. You can take an internal drive and put it in there and it will make the drive usable via USB just like an external drive.
What do you mean by it crashed? you mean it won't boot or ?
missing windows file or something. won't boot windows
Check you haven't got a repair CD.
