Watch Dogs 2, which launched today, includes a mission in which your protagonist infiltrates a mock version of Ubisoft San Francisco and steals a video game trailer, then sells it to a game website. (Hmm.) When the trailer popped up on YouTube over the weekend, it led to loads of speculation: was this just a fun in-joke or an actual new game that Ubisoft found a really clever way to announce?
Turns out it’s the latter. Two sources familiar with goings-on at Ubisoft tell Kotaku that this is a teaser trailer for a very real space exploration game called Pioneer. However, sources say, Pioneer hit some development hurdles (as most if not all video games do) and the game’s current status is rocky.
“The project was supposed to be announced next year,” said one source, adding that Ubisoft had replaced many of the leads on Pioneer within the past few months. “That won’t happen now and Pioneer is now being ‘retooled’.”
“When they decided to make the easter egg in Watch Dogs 2 they didn’t know it was going to be like this so it’s a bit awkward,” said a second source.

Honestly, I trust Ubisoft to make a cool space exploration game like NMS. They have waaaay more manpower than Goodbye Games did and their games are usually pretty good

I just wish (and hope) that they'd just give Michel Ancel this tech so that he can finally make the BG&E game the way he wanted to make.

The problem with NMS is that despite having an enormous place to play you end up doing the same boring tasks in slightly different environments over and over again. But that's also the biggest problem with most open world ubisoft games. If Ubisoft's other open world games are anything to go by, I don't see why we would expect them to do that much better.

What if this is it ? They started teasing it few weeks ago, this might be the next step. BG&E is set in the future and was always meant to be set on several planets with you traveling between them, but the tech wasn't ready when the original was released. The new game is believed to be a prequel, it could be about early days of space exploration and setting colonies on Hillys. Even though that is not a direction I would like, it is plausible.
Dock with Space Station Towers to reveal the local system on the map!

I trust Ubisoft fully and personally I think most of their games have been pretty good recently
We can go back and forth all day, friend.

i think they got the memo from Watch_Dogs 1 that people are sick of their shit and they've had some genuinely good-if-flawed titles as of late
The Division and Rainbow Six Siege are both pretty good, Watch_Dogs 2 has pretty decent scores so far though I haven't tried it, and Steep is looking relatively alright
