My cd/dvd drive is very loud whenever it tries to read a disk, has a low humming sound while idle (not very loud), and makes long, circular scratches on disks. My BIOS doesn't have an option for me to change the speed of my drive, and google hasn't come up with anything that works for Windows 7.
I discovered that it scratches disks when I left my unreal tournament disk in there for awhile since I was trying to find a patch for the game which needed the disk to install (after awhile of it being it, the drive quieted down to it's usual humming). I can't remember how long it was in for, but when I took it out there were circular scratches on the disk. Once again, google has failed me. Any help I can get would be very appreciated.
