Hi Facepunch, as of now I'm bilingual (¡Yo hablo español tambien!) I want to ask you: What (Germanic/Scandinavian) language should I learn? I've always wanted to learn one. English is my native language and I'm close to fluent in Spanish so anything that is similar to those languages would be good. So Facepunch? What do you say?
German, because it's badass.
Norwegian because vikings.
German, because it's badass.
but you're never done with german grammar :(
It does not matter. A punch sounds the same in every language.
I'd say either Swedish or German. Probably Swedish.
Finnish, because perkele. Though that's Fenno-Scandinavian so I dunno.
Swedish or German.
Swedish is probably the most beautiful language out of them - you're kinda singing with your voice a bit more. Still, I'd say Danish or German, the language of brutes.
Icelandic.
Norwegian because vikings.
Fuck the norse, the danes were the best vikings, so danish.
Norwegian, 'cause it's the easiest of Danish, Swedish and Norwegian, and you'll still be able to understand the two others, what with each basically being a dialect of the other. [editline]17th May 2012[/editline] I say this as a Dane.
Icelandic.
ó guð hvað í fjandanum er þetta þetta tungumál er hræðileg in seriousness, I'd say learn Swedish
Dutch. It's like German but with watered down grammar.
German. If you're going into business, German is a key to the trade.
Yeah German will help you the most probably. Although it might be hard to learn.
Norwegian.
Danish to be a badass. German to be smart. Swedish to be a drunk pansy. Norwegian to be a guy who doesn't give a shit about what i'm saying.
Not fucking swedish. Norweigan or German are the better alternatives.
Yeah, Swedish. I'd learn it myself but never have the time :)
Scandinavian is for the most part germanic.
Scandinavian is for the most part germanic.
Scandinavian languages have about 33% of words and 0% of grammar in common with German. Scandinavian languages have about 90% of words and 95% of grammar in common with eachother. Yes, they're of the Germanic base, but they're not really subspecies of the German language.
Elfdalian
Learn danish if you want to be forced to talk with squishy food in your mouth.

People spoke germanic languages before Germany was called Germany.

You and I both know he meant German in the title with Germanic, so let's not get into semantics over linguistic termology, shall we?
just learn german, its cool and good for a job and shit
German, because they don't know shit about english.
German, because they don't know shit about english.
Actually, this. All germans are fat, hairy middle-aged guys who wear speedos to the beach that crawls so far up their ass I would be accused of rape by demonstrating it. They don't speak a single word of English, which is why all media in Germany is localized. Watching Rambo in German is one of the funniest things I've ever done. Or Die Hard. Or any other action movie, for that matter.
I used to watch one piece in german while high, funniest thing ever.
German. It'll prove the most useful.
