It's alright, and I get it. People prefer the MG franchise a lot more, and tbh despite already being old, it looks like it has a lot more of a future than ZOE.
He said the HD remaster didn't live up to his standards, cost the company too much time and money, and ultimately disappointed fans. He also noted that the original team didn't make the HD version, and that the HD version's quality probably frustrates them.
I didn't play the HD versions. What was wrong with them?

Apparently the framerate on the PS3 version of the second game was very chuggy still, but i'm not sure what other problems there were.

It wasn't true 60 fps as was advertised. Both versions of the game run below 40 fps.

I guess this happened.
(Corrected) All of the Konami HD Ports were bad, including the Silent Hill HD collection.
I think both Silent Hill and Zone of the Enders were just upscaled ports with virtually no redone assets plagued with bugs and performance issues.

what does kojima have to do with Silent Hill [sp]I know, you meant to say Konami[/sp]

This, I fucked up.
Point remains, I figure Konami is to blame here entirely. They wanted to cash in on the HD port craze without investing any effort to ensure quality, which is sad. I would have happily gotten the Zone of the Enders and Silent Hill ports if they were actually decent.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Seriously? The HD collection killed the sequel? Goddamnit.
I'm a big fan of ZoE (hence my avatar), I did notice FPS problems, but nothing THAT drastic, I loved the HD Edition.

Why not both?
Also, ZOE has literally only had like two-three games (counting the gameboy one) and some animated stuff.
Metal Gear has had like 12 games, novels, comic books, motion comics, social media phone games, and a damn radio drama.

Not killed, suspended.

As Kojima said, it didn't do as well as planned, so it should be a better idea to stick to the main series, at least for now.
Tbh, I don't see the series doing all that well nowadays, or at least not in the western market.

I dunno, seems like any losses would probably be made up by MGS5 ten fold.
Also, he's been trying to distance himself and make other things so i dunno if it was his decision.

We can't forget that despite having franchises that aren't the most mainstream pickings of people out there, they still are a company that needs profits, despite having great success with the MG series.
ZOE HD must have hit them hard for them to pull out like that. Kojima said he really wanted to do a sequel to ZOE some time ago, and even teased that he was working on it.
Hope everything's okay and that it wont harm development of other games like MGSV and Ground Zeroes like releasing ahead of schedule and leaving lots of loose ends.

With all of the franchises Konami has i really really doubt they'll force Koji-Pro to rush MGS5.
