I currently have 4gb (2x2) DDR2 1333mhz ram and I wondered if this would work on a 1155 socket motherboard with an i5 2500k? I heard a while ago you needed specific ram in order for the i-series to work or something, could be wrong.

if you order from Scan there's an OEM 2500k for about £20 off which is perfect for a Hyper 212+ as a replacement for the stock heatsink
and do make sure to get a P67 mobo, I've seen people get 2500ks with h67 which defeats the point of it being unlocked for overclocking

I didn't have a cooler in mind, was going to buy something in my price bracket that came from a reputable brand but, if you recommend the 212+ I may aswell grab it.

for the mobo you can go with the C45 but I'd recommend getting the GD65 (or the gd55 if the 65 isn't in stock) because SLi/crossfire are always good to keep as upgrade options

You can OC that high on some models. Not a great idea though.
