• i5 2500k, will DDR2 Ram work?

I currently have 4gb (2x2) DDR2 1333mhz ram and I wondered if this would work on a 1155 socket motherboard with an i5 2500k? I heard a while ago you needed specific ram in order for the i-series to work or something, could be wrong. Thankyou!
has to be DDR3
Ahh, great, thankyou. That means I have to buy a new motherboard, RAM and the CPU.. going to be pricey. Thanks again.
if you order from Scan there's an OEM 2500k for about £20 off which is perfect for a Hyper 212+ as a replacement for the stock heatsink and do make sure to get a P67 mobo, I've seen people get 2500ks with h67 which defeats the point of it being unlocked for overclocking
Here are the parts I am planning to get at some point; http://www.scan.co.uk/products/intel-core-i5-2500k-unlocked-socket-1155-sandy-bridge-quad-core-33-ghz-6mb-cache-95w-oem http://www.scan.co.uk/products/msi-p67a-c45-intel-p67-express-s-1155-pci-e-20-ddr3-1333-1600-2133-sata-3gb-s-raid-atx or http://www.scan.co.uk/products/msi-p67a-gd65-intel-p67-1155-pci-e-20-ddr3-1333-1600-2133-sata-6gb-s-raid-atx depending on if I want to use my 8800 as a dedicated PhysX card. for the RAM get http://www.scan.co.uk/products/4gb-%282x2gb%29-corsair-xms3-classic-ddr3-pc3-12800-%281600%29-non-ecc-unbuffered-cas-9-9-9-24-15v for the mobo you can go with the C45 but I'd recommend getting the GD65 (or the gd55 if the 65 isn't in stock) because SLi/crossfire are always good to keep as upgrade options
since when has DDR2 the capability to go 1333mhz?
You can OC that high on some models. Not a great idea though.
