Funny the thing is that I got 60fps on a laptop on highest settings :v:
Rage 2? No thanks.
Rage 2? No thanks.
Why not? Rage had good aspects, like the great AI and art direction. They only need to avoid the bad aspects and enhance what made Rage good.
For people who never played RAGE, take it from a guy who preordered it at 59€. The game is about 24gb, looks like shit and runs like shit. Have some pictures of RAGE from launch: [t]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/558669913699996724/5FE0B0232F1F976DC66A0E4421734189D885FF64/[/t] [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/558669913700775223/49B596E99E38012FC06F1A29267E34EE3238F000/[/t] [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/558669913737020197/384E543136E8A72FAE80A57A54F937E084CD598B/[/t] [t]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/612716583510163683/28E8D88394389E017FB1B87DC6D4D4451DD4B592/[/t]

Blurry textures oh nooo! The gameplay was by far my favorite in an FPS for the last few years and more than made up for the technical issues.

And it had TONS of problems.

I have to agree, the textures were somewhat bad in a few things and the refresh rate was fucked up, as you turned your view with a bit of more speed to the side and you'd have a wall full of blurry textures that only changed after a few seconds. But I, for example, never had problems like those on the first and last screenshots. The game was fine. Its only short comings were its simplicity of "go here, do/get this and then come back", the anti-climatic ending that seems like you went through one hell of a contest just to get a stupid t-shirt that doesn't even fits you and the hardware problems in what comes to textures. That aside, it was actually a rather nice game.
Only things I hated about Rage was the bad ending and lack of freeroam after the campaign. There were still a few graphical faults by the time I played it but not enough to deter me from finishing it.
I bought it during the summer sale when all the graphical bugs were fixed, the game is fun and Rage 2 would be awesome.
It ran just fine here, and my rig is less than mediocre. No worries, carmack.
They fixed the majority of the problems within a month. RAGE is a great game after they fixed it.
RAGE was pretty good, I bought it during the summer sale, so I didn't have many performance issues. But it hogs around 20GB of disk space. I thought that was way too much for such a game. I mean, what takes up that much space in the game? I might buy a second as long as they keep it playable during release.
to me the only problem of big games like rage and max payne 3 with their 25/30gbs of disk space, is downloading them and yet it isnt a big problem.1TB HDs are kinda cheap, got two 1TB HDs on raid, and every steam game i own is installed. some people just see that huge size and think that makes the game better.

And that game's size was mostly because of the goddamn, uncompressed movies they used to bridge together every single singleplayer level to hide the loading screens. Great game but i'll be damned if that wasn't stupid.
I fucking love the mega-texture concept though. When you just look around every single area and realize that every single little nook and cranny looks different than some other area. It's just so detailed and amazing to think about, and I am sure it will become a thing in the future everybody will already be used to.
Main problem for me was more to do with gameplay: the restrictive movement. I think it was covered by RPS or another site when the game was at E3 or Gamescom, but you are literally punished by death for exploring. A bit. Not a lot. We're talking moving away slightly from a line path, you will be killed.
I probably was one of the lucky people, but my rig managed to play the game very well, from start on and it looked pretty "good", although those mega textures were kind of blurry in some parts sadly.
AMD/ATI has always been notorious for inferior OpenGL support compared to NVIDIA. This really showed off with the launch of RAGE.
Rage 2? They didn't even finish the story in the first game! You're just walking down a corridor and the credits suddenly pop up.
Chances are they cut the ending and a lot of other content to make the deadline. There's the scorcher clan which is seen in a trailer and mentioned but not actually seen in the game, a giant mutant that was probably 30 ft tall appeared in one of the trailers (consistent with some ingame stuff mentioning that as well).
Only took them a year. Just last night i managed to get a great looking game with almost no fps loss.
uh you fight the giant mutant with a rocket launcher
Quit playing dumb.
Hell if they were to make Rage 2 and promised that it would have a long storyline I would buy it. The thing about Rage was that it had a great setting. One of the best artstyles I've seen in a long time(Especially the characters) but lost under all that was the gameplay which was left in the cold. Probably because they focused so much on the presentation of what they had that they didn't have time left to complete the game. As it is heavily implied in the game that you were to fight that leader guy whateverhisnamewas at the end. Which didn't happen. Hopefully now that the engine is finished they can go on to make good games instead of having to focus on the technical bit as much.
Quit playing dumb.
Please explain to us how stating a fact about the ending of RAGE is dumb?
Funny the thing is that I got 60fps on a laptop on highest settings :v:
Same, it runs fucking amazing on my system.
Take it from someone on an Nvidia system. Rage is great. If you have an AMD GPU don't buy it.
It was fine with my 6870 CF set up, but it was even better after getting a GTX 670.
After looking forward to this game for years, the worst thing wasn't that the game was buggy as shit. I was alright with that. The worst thing was that the game itself was bland and wasn't really worth sorting all the bug shit out. Some of you probably don't share that opinion but to me it was a big kick in the balls.

I don't know, despite having the texture problem I enjoyed the game thoroughly to the end.
