Just a quick question, I'm doing an essay at the moment on playtesting and how Valve goes about this to improve their products and so forth, but one of the requirements of the essay would be to compare the testing practices of one company with another. It's really easy to find info regarding Valve's playtesting methods/philosophies/etc as they've released publications on their website and so forth, but I can't find this kind of stuff with any other video game company. The best info I could find that talked about other companies' playtesting was this:

Any have any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Look up Arena Net's testing on the upcoming Guild Wars 2, probably GW1 as well. They use an iterative development style. They build a map or other feature, play test the hell out of it themselves then go back and tweak it over and over again. They've said that they play the game A LOT, polishing it as they go along. I imagine they wont need a very long beta.

Awesome, thanks.
If there's any other companies I'd appreciate it, I really need to get as much infos as I can.

Didn't they use GW1 for the -very early- GW2 development? The random events and such I believe they said they simulated them in GW1 to see how it'd work out etc.

GW2 is just a heavily modified version of the GW1 engine I think, so it makes sense.
