• Dividing bandwidth between computers?

I share my 8MB bandwidth between four computers. When they are all being used, my ping increases drastically. Is there any way I can divide these 8MB equally between them, creating some sort of bandwidth limit for each computer? I'm using a Thomson Speedtouch 5. It's wireless, but I have it connected via cables.
Just from searching online: http://www.netlimiter.com/ I think you could also do it by changing the firmware on your router if your current firmware doesn't support it (something like tomato: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Tomato_Firmware#Supported_devices)
Is there any way to do this without downloading additional software? I have an identical router laying around, can I somehow use this so that atleast I will not be affected by the rest of the computers?
Just download the software.
Would that not require me to install it on all four computers?
Well the ones that you want to have their bandwidth limited on.
In that case I can not use it.
Your router might have a QoS option. I'd suggest looking there.
