well that has convinced me to buy this game, Ill pick it up some time before the steam Christmas sale is over
Good choice.
It's a genius game, where all the pieces just fit together. And it's proof you don't need a AAA game to be good. This was made by one guy!
as that super bunnyhop year in review video put it. it's interesting how a game about doing paper work was able to make telling a story through game play look so easy and be the best game made this year because of it. I really enjoyed this game it's strangely addicting.
I missed the flash sale, I hope it's on sale again later.
Glory to Arstotzka!
I watched YogCast play it a while back, and it got me interested. Nabbed it during the flash sale. Definitely gonna look into it.
It really does say a lot about the industry when a pixel art game about paperwork is the the best pc game of the year. Nothing worthwhile came out this year except for a few indie games. 2013 sucked for gaming

BioShock Infinite, The Last of Us, Assassin's Creed IV, Grand Theft Auto V, etc.
It doesn't say anything bad about the industry, it says something good about the indie side of it. Don't diminish Papers, Please value calling it a "pixel art game about paperwork," because you can do that shit to every game. Team Fortress 2? A cartoony game where you shoot people. Mass Effect? RPG with aliens. If you word it right, any game can sound like a pile of shit. Papers, Please, like other indie games gained popularity and success through originality and charm.

2 of those games never came out on PC, not this year at least. Didn't like Bioshock Infinite, never played AC4 because I'm not an AC fan.

You also said "2013 sucked for gaming," which sounded like a general statement, hence why I included GTA V and The Last of Us. And BioShock Infinite and AC4 were both generally well received, by both fans and critics, so I think it's safe to say you're an exception.
Not GOTY material. Nope.

no it doesn't mean that 2013 sucked for gaming, it means that 2013 was just like 2012 which was just like 2011 which was like 2010 and so on and so forth. papers, please is something entirely different than what most people are used to playing, it stuck out, and it stuck out in a really great way. it's addicting, it's fun, and it managed to make paperwork a game worth playing. that in itself is impressive.
Fuck this game everyone has fuckin bad papers
Im considering getting this game. Yes, no?

If you like to scan documents for errors then get it
Im considering getting this game. Yes, no?
Yes.
It's totally unique, and has a very strange charm to what shouldn't be a fun activity.
If you like to scan documents for errors then get it
This. I mean yeah, cool, they did something different. They forgot to make it fun though, it's literally just work. You have to cross reference birth dates and serial numbers and icons across multiple documents and if you mess up a few times you're fucked
Got this game on the flash sale and my fiance and I played for four hours straight.

It's really addictive and some of the people who came into the booth had both of us laughing.
[sp]Like the old man who made the crudely fake passport[/sp]
Lets not lie to each other, it gets boring and repetitive after awhile. Atleast thats what i saw on the free alpha version
i really like the theme song

The full version has a proper storyline, it adds more scripted stuff to keep it interesting

IT REAL ENTRY TICKET, I SWEAR
I wish I could [del]deny[/del] allow access to everyone without penalty and keep my family alive :C
I missed the flash sale because I don't have enough money.
damn
However, game's quite interesting, though. A break from unoriginality and incompetence I saw most of the time.

One-man job made this game worth applauding.
Papers Please is one of a few games that actually deserve to be GOTY. Seeing another CoD/AC being GOTY makes me sick.
