Select a desktop microphone and a pair of headphones from a reputable company like audiotechnia, sennheiser, etc. You'll be much more satisfied this way. The post above gives 2 perfect products to buy

However the Logitech set that the OP linked is not true 7.1. If you did some hunting you'd realize that the G930 uses "virtual 7.1", aka bullshit. The headset only contains two speakers. It seems there are quite a bit of virtual 7.1 systems and adapters out there, trying to catch people off guard.
great headphones, but the microphone is kind of eh
well what microphone should i get?
well what microphone should i get?
i dunno. i kind of wish i knew that myself. a lot of people are saying that the Trust desktop mic is good, but i'm not sure if it is or not.
i have the siberia v2 headset... a little overpriced at 90 bucks but i got it for 65 im very happy with it :)
I have a g930, and I'm not quite sure how the virtual 7.1 works, but it does.

It's in fact the only way to get anything good out from headphones with consoles. These technologies convert surround signals to a modified stereo signal, giving the illusion of having surround sound. This has nothing to do with the headphones, and ANY good pair of stereo headphones can be hooked to a sound card or receiver capable of doing this.
So many choices an yet so confusing! By the way, if that headset is good then. Whats a better microphone?
The zalman one is fine if you only plan to talk to others, just get what Nsybouts linked.
I'm in a similar situation, but I'd like to know if the second poster's microphone would be good for skype.
Skype and Gaming along the lines.
Would be fine for both.
Quite often the virtual 7.1 just makes your gaming and music experience worse, it makes everything sound a lot less defined. Like David said, the Audio Technicas and the Zalman mic will be leaps and bounds better than that Logitech set you were looking at.
Okay, then this is what i shall get probly.
Okay, then this is what i shall get probly.
Glad you listened to some useful advice, usually people make similar threads and ignore all advice given and make terrible choices.
Hahaha, yeah. I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy these but I'm just doing some research to go along with the advice, just a precaution. xD
Oh ya, forgot to say. This would work well with onboard sound or should i get what sound card? onboard has 7.1 i believe. Tis a Asus Crosshair Formula 4 Mobo
It'll work with onboard.
