Yeah but if they bring back the currency without changing a damn thing, it will happen all over again.
they would need to totally rework the system.

To the contrary, I think if they waited long enough for the controversy to be a little more irrelevant, then put it back in then there would be a little less resistance, similar to the net neutrality situation with the FCC and how they keep trying to overturn it.
Improving it a little bit the second time would probably make it work out even more for EA, since it would make headlines in the media.

Clearly the input of 98% of all consumers of every game ever is to never have micro-transactions. Take them out permanently.
God, gaming has totally been ruined for me.
But did they turn down/remove the insane 4000 hour grind they implemented in order to encourage microtransaction sales in the first place? That's the important factor here.
