it already costs over £400 for all the current expansions, Jesus Christ
Watch and learn, Activision. That's how you milk the cow.

And they're all rushed pieces of shit.

One day, one day I will get it all on Steam.
Almost all of the expansions are unnecessary anyway. The Sims 3 by itself is quite a game packed into $20 to $30.
This one seems to add more unique content then some of the latest ones.
This seems cool, but also lacks the seriousness aspect I'd want from a sci-fi expansion.

Not to mention each one released/installed makes the game more buggy and horrendously slower.

By the time it's price is low enough to be worth it, this expansion will have been renamed to "Into the Past" already.

I'm pretty sure all of the features work only through essentially gluing chunks of code together. Many things advertised just don't work. At all, and break 90% of the time. Why don't they implement some of the fixes, like the ones that fix all of the stuck NPC's and cars, which alone drop performance like a rock.
The people who make these expansion packs are supremely incompetent.
Do expansions even stack or are they all standalone?
One day, one day I will get it all on Steam.
actually because it's EA it's better to get on Origin. They intentionally undercut Steam sales with this game. My girlfriend has nearly every expansion and whenever there's a steam sale for like 20% off it's on Origin for 50%
but yeah Sims 4 is already announced anyway
I'm conflicted. I don't want to buy another pack with Sims 4 on the horizon.
But I love cheesy future settings.
Do expansions even stack or are they all standalone?
they add a whole bunch of shit to the base game so they stack yeah
with this I'm pretty sure you can be a fairy in the future who goes to college

Some expansion packs have content that can't be used unless you have X other expansion pack.

Keep in mind those are typically small things.
IE: Seasons adds aliens, but Seasons+Ambitions gives Aliens another special power.
I'll just wait for Sims 4.

Along with all of it's expansion pack
Sims 4 will have 3 expansion packs at day one.
That's why i don't buy any The Sims games.
I know i'm not forced to buy the packs, but if i don't, i won't feel complete.
I remember when The Sims was fun.
you can still torture and kill your sims so it is still fun
I remember when The Sims was fun.
it still is????
the sims 3 is the best game in the series whatcha talking about

I don't think you should play games if you feel "incomplete" when you don't own optional content.

They give you hardly any content without the expansions, they aren't needed but the game feels very empty and like it lacks basic things without them.
This seems cool, but also lacks the seriousness aspect I'd want from a sci-fi expansion.
Seriousness? This IS The Sims we're talking about here :v:

The Sims 3 is great (with at least some expansions) but I prefer TS2 and im hoping TS4 will have a mix of TS3's and TS2's over-all feel gameplay wise.
Sims 3 did a number of things brilliantly, and a lot of things poorly.
For instance, open neighborhoods was AMAZING! Rabbit hole community lots were not. The Create-A-Sim Improvements were wonderful! That fact that all Sim's faces looked the same was not. Create-A-Style was awesome! Microtransactions in a game that already spit out a dozen re-hashed expansions was not. Architecture and Buy Mode improvements really made it a lot more fun to customize your home! Taking 30 minutes to load made it really frustrating to play.
Still I loved the game despite the flaws and really look forward to TS4. And if the teaser image we've seen is accurate, it shows the Sims are going back to TS2 style, which is a definite plus. More stylized and distinctive.
This actually looks pretty neat, can't wait to build future themed homes!

Optimization was a huge problem in the sims 3. I'm hoping they fix it in 4. Hell, if you had too many expansions, the game would crash in CAS
