• Youtube playback issues

Hello, I'm having some issues with youtube. When I playback videos, many times they won't start at all and will get a generic error showing, saying to try again later. After a few reloads, usually it will play. Sometimes it will play threw fine, most times it wont. Sometimes I will be watching a video, say I'm one minute in and it will be buffered up to two minutes in, and the video will suddenly stop playing and restart back at 0 minutes with nothing buffered. I don't have issues with downloads or anything else. Around the time this issue started, two things changed; My ISP (Wildblue, I have satellite internet threw them) upgraded their service to higher speeds I had to do a fresh install of Windows 7. Everything is up to date on my system. Drivers are all installed and up to date. Wildblue/Dishnetwork has an optimizer for their network that I have already ran. Basic system info; Running Windows 7 x64 Browser is Firefox Using satellite internet
Is this only happening on one computer?
I'm guessing it has something to do with your satellite internet. Satellite internet is different from regular dialup or cable/DSL service in that every time you receive data from the internet, it gets stored in a large buffer that fills up like a bucket and is dumped all at once to the computer. This method of data transfer is fine if all you're doing is browsing websites, but it causes massive problems for streaming video and gaming due to the huge latency the buffer adds. Since satellite internet requires a phoneline for outgoing data, you should be able to just dialup normally and only use the dialup part of the connection. See if the weird buffering problem happens while just running in dialup mode without the satellite. If things behave normally, it's the satellite internet being crap.
Im not sure if it happens on other computers. Before the speed upgrades, i had no issues playing youtube videos. But like i said, Wildblue did an upgrade on their end and i reinstalled Windows 7 at the same time. Our satellite internet doesnt use a phone line, in coming and out going data goes threw the satellite
