I want to sell my HTC Desire, which I will most likely get over £150 for, but I will be unlikely to get more than £200. Out of this money I would like to buy a new phone, so what I need is a phone thats better than the Desire for around £150-£200

I'm from the US, so I'm not very familiar with UK carriers.
What type of phone are you looking for?
Contract or not doesnt really matter right now. I would like a dual core phone with pretty specs all-round. Ive been looking at the Atrix which I found for £280, but I just havent got the funds yet. Do you think if I wait for a month or two then I will be able to find a good phone this price seeing as the new android updates coming out soon. On contract I would really like to be paying no more than £20 a month and with that I would like to have atleast 500mb of data. If anyone can help then that'll be great.
I have a dual core phone, and I had the htc desire. There is no difference, at least not yet. And by the time they fully support dual core phones, there will be the next best thing out already. Don't be sold just on dual core.
If Im honest I think I should just put off getting a new phone for now, well until I see a really good deal. But as it is Im willing to fork out £20 a month for a phone I dont really need quite yet. But as you said, theres no real use for dual core yet, so until they release something good for it (Like a ps2 emulator, if only...) then I think Im gonna put off the idea.
Do pay for data or speed in UK? (In finland you just get the speed you are paying for. With unlimited data ofcourse.)
Whats wrong with the Desire? It's a good phone.
You pay for data here, and you are right, the Desire is a good phone for now, I think I'll wait until after christmas to get a new phone.

But even with video encoding with the hdmi out, it doesn't handle hd videos very well.
