So I've been looking to buy a new computer. I want to switch from a laptop to a desktop. Preferably HP or dell. I have no idea where to start so I figured I would ask you guys. What would be the best hp/dell desktop computer that is better for gaming (not a straight gaming computer) but still has the hard drive space to ungodly amounts of pictures, music, and movies. Anybody?
Budget?
Do you need a monitor, keyboard. mouse, headset?
What country are you in?
When do you plan on buying this?
You would really be better off building a computer. You'd save several hundred dollars and it only takes about 30 minutes of your time. Plus, you can get some really awesome looking cases.
Yeah, I was going to point him to some build.
:ssh:

Don't buy a prebuilt. You want to get your parts from there though.
How much does it usually cost to build a fairly nice computer?
Depends.
500$ ish.

Depends on how you define "fairly nice"

Fairly Nice as in a computer that doesn't have parts from 1985
What will you be using it for? "Pretty Nice" is a very vague term.

Stop avoiding the question. What kind of games do you play, do you watch HD movies, do you do modeling, do you map, do you use photoshop, etc.

I will be mostly using it for gaming. I play COD4, waw, and RCT3 (messing around with the fireworks editor so speed is a factor), I sometimes watch HD movies, I work A LOT with sketchup, and i will be using it for photoshop when school starts again.
